The China IPR SME Helpdesk is partnering with Lancaster University for a seminar on the Lancaster China Catalyst Programme, which aims to create opportunities for UK-Chinese partnerships and provide support for UK firms to develop international collaborative R&D and commercialisation projects in the challenging Chinese market.

The seminar will cover:

  • financial services available for companies engaged in R&D (research and development) in China;.
  • recovering the costs of R&D through tax relief;.
  • 'Patent Box' – tax relief on profits from patents;.
  • how to claim tax relief and what costs are eligible;.
  • Chinese patent and trademark registration;.
  • technology transfer and licensing to China;.
  • protecting trade secrets;.
  • IPR enforcement action;.
  • typical costs of buying back intellectual property assets.

During the seminar, China IPR SME Helpdesk expert Simon Cheetham will give a presentation on how to manage intellectual property in China.

Mr Cheetham will also be available for individual consultation sessions, upon registration.

The event is open to small and medium-sized enterprises (less than 250 employees) or SME intermediary associations from the EU.
