The SET Plan 2015 conference will launch the European debate on the new European strategic energy technology (SET) plan, and the next steps to implement its actions, at the highest level. The conference will be held back-to-back with the Informal Council of the Energy Ministers in Luxembourg, thereby placing research and innovation in energy at the heart of Luxembourg’s Council Presidency.

The conference will be opened by the European Commissioner for research, science and innovation, Carlos Moedas, and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Mr Xavier Bettel. Conclusions will be drawn by Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for climate action and energy, and Etienne Schneider, Minister of economy of Luxembourg. After the opening, Dominique Ristori, Director-General for energy at the European Commission, will present the new Integrated SET-Plan and introduce a panel discussion about European energy R&I in the bigger picture of the energy system of the future, the integration across different systems (notably ICT and transport) and the interaction with research in enabling technologies and materials.
