KETs Observatory updated with new interactive tool
(From ec.europa.eu)
The new Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) Observatory website is now live. The improved site provides visitors with easier access to data on the deployment of KETs in Europe and worldwide.
The new interactive maps and charts allow users to easily extract and analyse data for a specific technology, country or region.
The tool is perfectly adapted to smartphones and tablets and also offers better functionality for desktop versions. It is now easier and quicker to search and compare data about the deployment of KETs, both within the EU and in comparison with other world regions.
The aim of the KETs Observatory is to monitor and analyse emerging trends in the field through comprehensive and regularly updated statistics. Different indicators capture the performance of KETs at different stages of the value chain, from the invention of new technology (patents), to its application and use (production, trade and turnover). This web tool supports business stakeholders and policy makers at EU, national and regional level in the development of policies regarding advanced technologies in Europe. The statistics available for each EU country and EU region (NUTS 1, 2 and 3) can nurture innovation strategies and smart specialisation in the area of KETs.
New features for the KETs Observatory
In the next phase (until 2018), the KETs Observatory will be updated to display the latest statistics available. It will continue to monitor the ability of countries to generate and commercialise new knowledge in KETs and analyse their impact in the wider economy (see annual reports).
Additionally, the KETs Observatory will be enriched with more in-depth value chain analyses of fast-growing KETs-based products with strong potential to generate market opportunities and growth for European businesses. The statistics will also be expanded to cover the digital dimension of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT).
