Launch of the Social Challenges platform
(From ec.europa.eu)
The Social Challenges Innovation Platform launched its first open call for solutions on 21 September.
The social challenges innovation platform is a European online ecosystem. It promotes interaction between social innovation stakeholders for the co-development and uptake of sustainable and marketable innovations with a clear social impact.
The platform is a social innovation marketplace where public authorities, private companies or third sector organisations can share the social challenges they want to solve. Social innovators and entrepreneurs from across Europe are invited to pitch their solutions to those challenges.
The call for solutions aims to scout, evaluate, select and offer seed funding to entrepreneurial solutions for the current 30 challenges on the platform. The call is open until 21 December 2017.
Selected solutions providers will receive a €30,000 grant to co-develop the proposed solution with the challenge owner over 6 months. They will also receive mentoring support from the platform's regional partners.
Social Challenges.eu is, therefore, a twofold tool for social innovation:
- it helps to bridge supply and demand and.
- it facilitates collaborative work that defines and implements the best solution to a specific social need.
