Since 2001 continuous progress has been made in the understanding and convergence of EU and Chinese product regulations through this dialogue between the European Commission and the Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China.
The meeting of the EU-China consultation mechanism on industry and World Trade Organization technical barriers to trade was co-chaired by Deputy Director-General Antti Peltomaki with Director General Sun Wenkang of the Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) in Beijing on 11 November 2015.
Mr Peltomaki also met with Mr Tian, Administrator of the Standards Administration of China (SAC).
The Chinese side reported on the latest changes in regulation in China, notably regarding the new Standardisation law that aims to streamline standards, making them more market driven and international.
Foreign industry consultation should also improve.
On conformity assessment good progress was noted in the China compulsory certification (CCC) simplification and the lifting of some restrictions in testing, inspection and certification.
