European Online Job Day - 100 000 km away from continental Europe
(From ec.europa.eu)
With the EURES online platform, the island of Reunion successfully expands its talent pool to all of continental Europe. The island of Reunion, in cooperation with EURES France and several other partners, held an online recruiting day recently. The event focused on finding food and service industry workers interested in employment on the Island of Reunion – a popular holiday destination. "The format of job days is very nice," says EURES Adviser Laurent Faivre. "Overall, it allowed for contact with candidates who reside across 100,000 kilometres of the EU, many of who never would have thought of considering remote Reunion as a possible place for employment." The event gave candidates from across Europe a chance to meet with potential employers from Reunion using the online platform. The job seekers were also able to learn more about life and working conditions in other European countries. The event was specifically geared towards candidates who were looking to relocate. "One person from Belfast found a job, and we are waiting for news on three or four additional jobs," says Faivre. The unique online format expands the geographic reach for both employers and job seekers. More so, the format has proven popular, as many candidates in Europe are looking for more mobile options for employment. Access to the event was free, but applicants had to sign up prior to the event. During the European Online Job Day, a live stream with speakers was available and candidates were given an opportunity to ask questions directly. Related articles:
