The European non-ferrous metals manufacturing industry is a strategic sector. It employs 500,000 people and supplies products for many downstream industrial sectors. The industry's investment horizon spans decades so it needs a long-term strategic perspective.
A qualitative methodology was used in this foresight study which engaged various stakeholders. The aim was to define a 2050 vision for the industry. As part of the vision, actions were proposed. They focus on challenges in trade, innovation, resources, business integrity and skills.
