Registration for the 2016 European Tourism Day is now open

The topic of this year's conference is “Enhancing synergies between tourism and cultural and creative industries. Innovative solutions as the driver for jobs and growth”

2016 attendees include Commissioner Bieńkowska, Commissioner Vella and Commissioner Navracsics, as well as several high-level representatives of EU countries, regions and the industry.

Background European Tourism Day gives EU tourism stakeholders the opportunity to discuss specific themes related according to the policies priorities.

Tourism is an important sector contributing to the economic, social, political and cultural landscape of EU countries.

Europe is one of the world's leading tourist destinations with a market share of 51% in 2014. The tourism industry generates (directly and indirectly) 9.7% of total GDP for the EU countries altogether, a figure which is forecasted to rise to 10.4% of GDP by 2025.
